La Comisión Honorifica Mexicana has been a scholarship sponsor since the beginning of the HCAC program 33 years ago and generously contributes $10,000 to the scholarship fund.
The Comisión was established in 1939 by a group of Mexican citizens, under the auspices of the Mexican Consulate in San Francisco. In the next decade, 58 more Comisiones were established. Their objective was to bring together all persons of Mexican, Central and Latin American origin or ancestry, regardless of race, creed, political or religious affiliation, sex, age, educational background or status.
Currently, the main objective is to award scholarships through the Hispanic Community Affairs Council to Latino students who merit them through their academic study and financial need in order to foster the future of our cultures.
The current president is long-time HCAC member, Marie Contreras-Danner and the vice president is Salvador Amesquita.
